Translink Busway Stations in Queensland are an essential part of the state’s public transport network. Operated by Translink, a division of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, these stations are integral to a dedicated bus rapid transit system designed for efficiency, reliability, and high-capacity service. The busway network features specially designed corridors and stations that enable buses to operate with minimal interference from other traffic, ensuring faster and more predictable travel times.
At fifteen Translink busway stations, various flooring surfaces, including tiles, vinyl, and concrete, did not meet the Australian Standard for slip resistance (AS 4663-2013). Previous anti-slip treatments, which etch into the substrate, proved ineffective on vinyl, and offered limited durability on tiles and concrete. Following a successful trial with Stellmann Non-Slip coatings, Translink decided to implement our solution across all non-compliant areas.
Our durable coating adheres to a wide range of surfaces, reducing the need for frequent reapplications and minimizing costs and downtime for travellers. Key stations like King George Square, HAP, Greenslopes, and Upper Mt. Gravatt have benefited from this upgrade. In total, over 800 m² of flooring has been treated with Stellmann Non-Slip Clear.
All treated areas have been tested after installation by SlipTest Australia, an independent, NATA-accredited slip-testing company. Each area treated with Stellmann achieved a P4 or P5 slip-rating, ensuring compliance with Australian Safety Standards for slip-resistance. As a result, all treated areas are now slip-free and safe for public use.
