Why Stellmann vs Acid Treatments & Alternatives
Most anti-slip treatments for tiles rely on acid etching, a process that chemically attacks the surface to create texture. While this adds temporary grip, it permanently damages the finish, voids surface warranties and typically degrades within 6-12 months.

What's the difference between acid treatment and Stellmann's coating?
Acid treatments etch the tile surface, creating texture but permanently dulling the glaze, discolouring tiles, and typically failing within 6-12 months. Stellmann's polyurethane coating bonds to the tile surface without etching, preserving appearance and lasting longer with superior durability.
Will the coating change my tiles' appearance?
The colour stays the same. On a gloss tile the sheen can change slightly toward satin; that is the only visible difference most customers notice. Underfoot, the coating has a fine, slightly gritty micro-texture: the grit is the grip.
What P-rating do I need for bathroom tiles?
AS 4586 is a slip test, not a set of minimums. For indoor wet areas like bathrooms, we usually recommend P3.
